tetronom

tetronom – 3D-artifact in tetrahedral shape

The tetronom that consists of six tetronom single bars is a three-dimensional, tetrahedral artifact. Due to its three-dimensional construction, 3D measuring instruments and machine tools can be tested very efficiently. In only one setup, the probing deviations as well as the scale and perpendicularity conditions can be checked. Furthermore, it allows for direct comparison of different measuring systems.

Technical data:

Feasible lengths from 100 mm to 3000 mm between the balls' midpoints
longer lengths on request
Targets targets for tactile and photogrammetric systems
matte balls made of stainless steel
ceramic balls for area scanning systems on the basis of white light fringe projection and for laser scanner systems
Standard size of targets 38.1 mm and 50 mm
other sizes on request
Calibration DAkkS or manufacturer's calibration

Targets for the tetronom

The ends of the six CFRP bars are held together by four magnetic targets. Targets can be made of stainless steel or ceramic or can be theodolite, laser tracker and retro-reflective targets as well as blasted or coated balls. The standard ball diameter is 38.1 mm (1.5“, all targets) and 50 mm (1.96“, except theodolite, laser tracker and retroreflective targets). This allows tactile as well as optical measurements. The targets are characterized by their extremely accurate manufacturing. For more information about the targets, please refer to the corresponding product page.

Areas of application

The tetronom is most appropriate for rapid and reliable periodic supervising as well as measurement system analysis and testing with regard to the temperature behavior. Due to its shape and materials used, the tetronom fulfils all requirements for artefacts according to the VDI/VDE guidelines 2617 and 2634 as well as to DIN EN ISO 10360.

Shipment

To suit the demands for traceability to national standards each tetronom is delivered with a calibration certificate that indicates the exact length and measurement uncertainty of each single bar. Therefore, the tetronom can be used as reference standard. The standard version includes six single bars, the calibration certificate and a carry case. tetronom Analyzer, a software for a rapid target performance comparison, is available as optional extra.
